CONFIDENTIALITY OF SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER RECORDS

(42 CFR PART 2)

Substance use disorder records are protected under federal law. These records may not be used or disclosed without your written consent unless permitted by law.

We may disclose substance use disorder information without your consent only when permitted by law, including:

  • Medical emergencies necessary to protect your health or safety
  • Scientific research, audit, or program evaluation activities
  • Court orders that comply with federal requirements
  • Reporting suspected child abuse or neglect
  • Disclosures otherwise required by law

Except as described above, we will not use or disclose substance use disorder information without your written consent.

You may provide written consent allowing disclosure for treatment, payment, and health care operations. Information disclosed for these purposes may be redisclosed as permitted by HIPAA and applicable law.

You may revoke your consent at any time by submitting a written revocation, except to the extent that action has already been taken in reliance on your consent.
